The fabric is made entirely - 100% - from 22 momme Grade 6A silk, with no other fibers mixed in. Silk is a natural protein fiber, known for its smooth texture, natural sheen, and good drape.
The term 'momme' (pronounced 'moe-mie') is a unit of measurement used to describe the weight and density of silk fabric. One momme is equivalent to approximately 4.340 grams per square meter. Therefore, a 22 momme silk would weigh about 95.48 grams per square meter. Higher momme numbers generally indicate a heavier, more durable fabric. Silk fabrics with higher momme are usually considered to be of better quality, as they are thicker, more durable, and have a more luxurious feel. A 22 momme silk is considered high quality and is often used for products like luxury silk bedding and high-end clothing.
The 'Grade 6A' is a classification of silk quality. The grading system typically ranges from A to C, with A being the highest quality. Within the 'A' category, there can be further distinctions, such as 6A, 5A, etc. 'Grade 6A' silk is considered to be the highest quality in this system, indicating that the silk fibers are long, uniform, and free from defects. This grade of silk is known for its exceptional luster, smoothness, and strength.
